FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CineKink to Honor Filmmaker Jennifer Lyon Bell with CineKink Artist Spotlight Award
NEW YORK, NY; March 28, 2019 – CineKink has announced that filmmaker Jennifer Lyon Bell, an award-winning alumni of multiple editions of the festival, will be the featured artist at the 16th annual CineKink NYC, running April 3-7, and will be presented with its first-ever CineKink Artist Spotlight award.
CineKink will showcase the US premiere of Jennifer Lyon Bell’s latest film, ADORN, along with a behind-the-scenes documentary about its making, during the shorts program WORK IT, which profiles the passion – and work – that goes into making sex-positivity one’s mission and business. Bell will be on hand following the screening for an audience discussion. (Saturday, April 6, 1 pm; Anthology Film Archives)
Bell will also offer a reprise of her popular filmmaking workshop, FROM FANTASY TO FILM: DESIGN YOUR OWN PORN FILM. Intended as a beginner’s creative exploration, attendees will be given the tools to plan and envision their very own porn movie — whether they later decide to pick up a camera and do it, or whether they just like knowing that they could. Throughout the workshop, Bell will give exercises to tweak the erotic imagination, present a walk-through of various porn genres and styles, and pass along some secret tips for beginners on what to do and what to avoid when making their movie. (Sunday, April 7, 2-5 pm; Bowery Bliss.) http://www.cinekink.com/programs-and-events/nyc/cinekink-nyc-2019/from-fantasy-to-film-design-your-own-porn-film/
And finally, CineKink will present Bell with the CineKink Artist Spotlight award for 2019, designed to recognize outstanding artistry over a body of work, during a celebration at the festival’s conclusion. (Sunday, April 7, 7-8:30 pm; Bowery Bliss.)
“We first screened Jennifer’s work in 2006, her short film ‘Headshot,’ and we’ve been honored to feature all of her cinematic offerings ever since,” said Lisa Vandever, CineKink co-founder and director. “Her unique ability to combine a great sense of story and artistic filmmaking, along with explicit imagery and a feminist sensibility, definitely put her in the vanguard of adult cinema, and set a high bar to which other filmmakers can aspire.”
“I have always loved screening my work at CineKink. Their audiences are so engaged, and their entertaining and thoughtful programming spans genres in a way that always inspires feisty discussion,” said Bell. “They champion erotic, explicitly sexual, and openly pornographic film without hesitation, which means so much to me as a filmmaker — especially in today’s repressive cultural climate.”
Known as the “kinky film festival,” CineKink NYC runs April 3-7, 2019, and will again feature films and videos that celebrate and explore a wide diversity of sexuality. With offerings drawn from both the independent film world and the adult, works presented at the festival will range from documentary to drama, comedy to experimental, slightly spicy to quite explicit – and everything in between.

ABOUT JENNIFER LYON BELL
Forever wishing that all movies had longer and more explicit sex scenes, Harvard graduate Jennifer Lyon Bell decided to mix arthouse cinema with hot explicit sex in her own work. Now the founder of Blue Artichoke Films, she creates erotic fiction films and documentaries that illuminate the riveting, intimate, and sometimes delightfully awkward side of sex. In short, she’s making the films that she herself would most like to watch. Her films win international awards at both porn festivals and art-film festivals, and have screened everywhere from primetime television to London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts.
