sirwiñakuy

sirwiñakuyInternational premiere.
In a Bolivian coffee-shop, middle-aged Luis spots Anouk, a pretty young French woman with exquisitely bad table manners. He approaches her and, without introduction, asks her to go home with him.

Anouk surprises the both of them by acquiescing and, after packing up the few belongings in her small rented room, goes to live with him in a crumbling, colonial house. There he subjects her to often sadistic efforts to shape and discipline her into the woman that lies beneath her childish exterior, and the two participate in their own version of a sirwiñakuy… an indigenous tradition where a man brings home a trial “wife.”
